Miami-Florida men's basketball coach Jim Larranaga

    Basketball is a sport played by two teams of five players on a rectangular court. The objective is to shoot a ball through a hoop 18 inches (46 cm) in diameter and 10 feet (3.0 m) high mounted to a backboard at each end. Basketball is one of the world's most popular and widely viewed sports. Miami- Florida men's basketball coach Jim Larranaga has been rewarded with a long-term contract extension that will keep him with the Hurricanes through the 2021-22 season. 
      Miami was ranked a high as No. 2 during the season and earned a NO.2 seed in the NCAA tournament. The Hurricanes magical year included a 27 point win over a top-ranked Duke squad in January and an ACC Tournament title game win over North Carolina. It ended with a school-record 29 wins following a loss to Marquette in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tourney. Larranaga has spent the past two seasons at Miami and guided the Hurricanes to their best season in 2012-13 with a record of 29-7, a regular-season ACC championship and an ACC Tournament title.    The Hurricanes are 49-20 in Larranaga's two seasons. He has also been a head coach at George Mason. Bowling Green and American international college, and owns a career mark of 519-353 in 29 seasons.  Larranaga left George Mason in the spring of 2011 as the school's all-time wins leader, going 273-164 during a 14 year tenure highlighted by a memorable and surprising final four run in 2006.
