Religious Sociocultural Life of People of Indian Origin in USA


       Culture may be defined as shared values, goals, attitudes and practices that characterize an institution, organization or group. It is the collective programming of the human mind that distinguishes the members of one human group from those of another. The religious and cultural practices of a particular group of persons in the society very often lead to religious sociocultural life.
       Swami Vivekananda was probably the first person to find parallels between the yogic physiology and the modern physiology. He inferred that the spinal cord is composed in such a manner that its horizontal cross sections would like a figure of , placed horizontally, with two parts connected in the middle.

Spirituality is all about living a happier life "in the moment', responding to situations rather than reacting, deprogramming and connecting with my self to come with a fresh response to situations. Yoga and meditation give me just that. The practice of yoga and meditation prove to be a powerful combination and many enthusisasts like to round their yoga routine with a meditation. When the wobbling body becomes steadier and the disturbed mind becomes calmer, meditation can provide a deep sense of relaxation. Spirituality gives inner strength to manage difficult situations and to keep smiling. Being established in the inner peace spreads outward, and makes you a more responsible human being full of caring, sharing and love. In sleep you get rid of fatigue, but the deeper stresses remain in your body. Meditation, yoga and Sudarshan kriya cleanses even the deepest layers of your consciousness, leaving your rested and refreshed. Spirituality is not just some mumbo jumbo, sitting somewhere and doing something. It is revisiting the truth about Ourselves.
