The first trailer for Dom Hemingway, the new crime comedy from director Richard Shepherd (The Matador) has arrived, bringing us a surly, grizzled, and menacingly funny Jude Law in the titular role along with a diversely cool supporting cast, including Richard E. Grnat, Demian Bichir, Emilia Clarke, Madalina Diana Ghenea, and Kerry Condon. The proceedings look like a really fun, rough time, keeping perfectly in sync with Shepard's previous efforts. The film recently premiered at TIFF to some pretty damn good reviews, including our own from Bumbray and the trailer seems to mirror those sentiments. Law may not have become the debonair leading man that everyone thought he would when he kicked off his career, but I think he's becomes something much better than that. For the trajectory he's had thus far, Dom Hemingway feels like perfect fit for the actor and I'm glad to see him embracing his stature as a "tougher" actor rather than the "Pretty" one.
Jude Law's dark mob comedy "Dom Hemingway" has got its first trailer released exclusively via Digital spy. The British actor plays the titular character, a safe cracker who is seeking to collect his due from his boss after being released from prison. Dom is eager to get the money he thinks he's owed for keeping his mouth shut after twelve years in jail. Surrounded by women and money, he seems to find himself lost in his old world. All the while, he's trying to reconnect with his estranged daughter. Colorful language and cheeky scenes including a glimpse of Law in his birthday suit are displayed in the video, to give an idea of how his ex-con character is portrayed in the movie. "Game of Thrones" actress Emilia Clarke plays his on-screen daughter. Directed by Richard Shepard, it is set to open on November 15 this year in the U.K., and April 4, 2014 in the United States. It is supported by Demian Bichir as the mob boss, and Richard E.Grant as Dom's sidekick who tags along for the ride.
One of my biggest pet peeves in this dangerous blogging game is when someone sends me a new trailer for a movie that only not fantastic but has also earned rave reviews, and us Yankees in the U.S. of A don't get to see it until the following year. Meanwhile, there are a bunch of people in england who will get to watch a movie like Dom Hemingway on November 17, and that's not fair because this is supposed to be an exceptional nation. Whatever, thanks for nothing, Obama. Anyway Jude Law stars as the titular criminal scumbag, fresh out of prison and ready to collect some cash that he's owed by the crime boss that he served time for.
