To make or not to make a sequel has always plagued Bollywood. While a few oppose the idea most cash in on the success of films to turn into a franchise. This year, there have been some interesting films, few of which have been released and few which are yet to hit the screens. Here's a bollywood sequels of 2013.
The Roshans have created a franchise with Krrish. The first installment Koi...Mil Gaya was a huge success which lay the ground for the sequels to follow. Krrish 3 is highly anticipated as Hrithik comes in a new avatar yet again. The film also stars Vivek Oberoi and Priyanka Chopra who was in Krish too.
Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Again is one of the most hyped sequels of 2013. Replacing Emraan Hashmi and Ajay Devgn from those original, Imran Khan and Akshay Kumar take over and will be seen romancing Sonakshi Sinha. Coming from the makers of Once Upon A time in Mumbai and The Dirty Picture, this Milan Luthria direcorial is based on the most wanted man in India-Dawood.
Race 2 was a disappointment. Although the film did fairly well at the box offfice, Abbas Mustan cashed on the success of Race to make a sequel which sadly did not create any intrigue for audiences nor did it leave them wanting for more.
The Deols bring their madness once again in a follow up to Yaml Pagla Deewana. Unlike the original which was directed by Samir Karnik, this sequel has been directed by Sangeeth Sivan who ensure that the sequel will live up to the expectations of the first.
While Murder and Murder 2 were hits and were loved by viewers, Murder 3 was a disappointment and did not match up to the earlier 2 films. Although the film did not fare too bad, it creates a doubt if the next series will make a difference to the franchise.
A brilliant attempt by Balaji Telefilms, Ragini MMS set the ground for another sequel: Ragini MMS 2. Adult star Sunny Leone will be seen doing some steamy scenes with Sandhya Mridul. Inspired by paranormal activity, this film has created a lot of interest for its sensational cast. What next can Ekta Kapoor bring to the original which was freaky and a brave attempt in Indian cinema.
Shaadi Ke Side Effects is the sequel to Pyaar Ke Side Effects. With Vidhya Balan and Farhan Akhtar in the lead, let's hope this film can add some class to the original.
